Video games offer more satisfaction when they are not your sole pastime. But it’s easy to get distracted when there are lots of options for entertainment.

New games seem fun and worth starting, and after five minutes, you get bored that you shut down your computer and switch to YouTube to kill time with some entertaining videos.

Another reason could be that you have played too many games over the past few years to be shocked by anything.

When you eat the same food over and over again, you’re bound to want something different.

However, video games have also been losing variety. It almost feels like every game is the same, just slightly different.

When you were younger, it seemed like every game you got to try was utterly different from the last.

Recently, it seems like developers haven’t put in as much effort to be original. New “versions” are released annually with minor changes.

One of the most apparent reasons is price. Games nowadays are significantly more expensive than before.

A lot of gamers feel ripped off when they have to pay full price for a game they played when they were younger, only to discover how much it’ll hurt their wallet.

It can be disheartening to spend a lot of money on something you might not use all the time or enjoy to its full potential.

The pay-to-win aspect is also something gamers need to consider. Some games are easier to play when you spend real money on in-game stuff.

Growing Up is Partly a Reason Why

As we grow older, our priorities also change. Instead of playing video games, we may have to focus on other important things like work, chores, etc.

Playing video games with a pile of work waiting for you is certainly not fun.

A lot of times, video games are really challenging and time-consuming. Since our schedules are always full, it’s crucial that we make time to pursue our interests.

Whatever the reason may be, video games aren’t going anywhere. You can always pick up your console or turn on your computer to play your favorite game once you feel like it.

Some day, you’ll find video games as entertaining as when you were a child.
