Before you can get to the highest point in Hogwarts Castle, you need to upgrade your Alohomora spell to level 3. This allows you to unlock any lock without doing the mini-game.

You can do this by talking to Gladwin Moon.

After upgrading your Alohomora spell to level 2, you will then need to collect 13 Demiguise Moon statues to upgrade it to level 3.

With the Alohamora level 3 secured, fast-travel to the Trophy Room Floo Flame in The Grand Staircase section. Head over to the Headmaster’s Office afterward.

If you can’t access it yet, you have to finish the main quest, The Polyjuice Plot.

Upon reaching the Headmaster’s Office, go to the left door with a Level II lock and open it to reach the balcony.

If you haven’t done the main quest, The Polyjuice Plot, or you are too lazy to go to the Headmaster’s Office, you can use your broom and then fly onto the balcony instead.
