How to Solve the Marunweem Lake Chess Puzzle Hogwarts Legacy

The Marunweem Lake chess puzzle is a puzzle involving chess pieces, a clear nod to the first movie when Harry, Hermione, and Ron must complete a chess-based puzzle to progress.

You can find it hidden around the lake, and while the puzzle itself is relatively easy, finding it can be a bit tricky as it requires you to use some of your magic and flying skills.

This guide will show you how to find the Marunweem Lake chess puzzle and how to solve it!

To start off, head over to the point marked on the map above which is located in Marunween Lake.

Once you get to this point, you will see an ornate platform sitting in front of a closed entrance to the cave. Use Revelio which will cause the platform to glow, indicating that you are on the right spot.

Now, turn entirely around and walk back to the right, hugging the wall of the cave until you find a camp. Use Revelio again to reveal a large stone with engravings locked in a cage within one of the tents.

Unlock the cage with Alohomora, pick up the stone with Levioso or Wingardium Leviosa, and return it back to the ornate platform sitting in front of a closed entrance to the cave.

Once you have returned the stone to the platform, the cave will open. Go inside and head straight until you find a large chess set.

Use Revelio to reveal a chair at the back of the room. Pick it up with Wingardium Leviosa and use the Transformation spell to turn it into a Knight chess piece.

Solving the Puzzle 1

Use Wingardium Levioso to bring the Knight piece four spaces from the right of the room and one space from the back of the room.

This will set up the knight to move in its traditional L movement as it would in a real game of chess, taking out the king. This will cause a chest to fall from the ceiling, solving the puzzle at the same time.
