How to Fix Darktide Error 2006

Darktide launched in a very buggy state. As such, players might often experience a variety of errors. One such error is the dreaded Error 2006.

Error 2006 is usually accompanied by the “Disconnected from Server” description. Thankfully, it mostly appears when trying to join a multiplayer session. Better than getting disconnected midway!

Still, this error will prevent you from playing with other players. Let’s find out how you can potentially fix this error!

The first thing you should do is to make sure that the game’s servers aren’t undergoing maintenance. Check the game’s official Twitter account, Steam Forums, or subreddit for information.

If the servers are online but you still get Error 2006, start by simply restarting your Darktide game. Close and open the game then try joining another session.

If that doesn’t work, try restarting your PC. This might clear whatever is causing Error 2006 to appear.

You can also reboot your router. There are many ways to do this, depending on your model. A simple way is to unplug the power cable for about a minute and then plug it back in.

If restarting the game and the devices didn’t work, you can also attempt to clear Darktide’s cache. First, make sure that you’ve closed Darktide.

You can do this by pressing both Windows key and R at once. This will bring up the “Run” window. In the Run window, enter this in the field: %APPDATA%/Fatshark

This should open a folder in Windows Explorer. You should see a folder called “Darktide” here. This is the game’s cache. Right-click on this folder and delete it.

Once you’ve deleted the game’s cache, try opening Darktide again. Try playing a multiplayer session to see if it fixes the problem.

If that still didn’t fix the problem, try validating the game’s files on Steam.

Right-click on Darktide in your Steam Library. Click on Properties then click on Verify integrity of Game Files in the Local Files tab. The image above is using another game as an example, but the process is similar for all Steam games.

This will check that your game’s files aren’t damaged. Any broken files will be re-downloaded.

Hopefully one of these potential fixes has solved the issue for you. Sadly, Darktide is a pretty buggy game currently. As such, there’s no official fix for errors like this yet.
