Before anything else, you must first progress far enough in the game to unlock the Vivarium in the Room of Requirement before you can begin your hunt for the legendary Phoenix.

Deek, the hairy House-elf, will begin to assign you quests involving the capture of various beasts using the Nab-Sack.

Complete Deek’s series of quests, beginning with the Plight of the House-Elf, then Foal of the Dead, and finally, Phoenix Rising.

Deek will tell you about a Phoenix that is in danger of being captured by poachers, so your goal is to find it first.

The Phoenix Rising quest will take you to the Phoenix Mountain Cave located in the far southeast corner of the Poidsear Coast. Fly on your broom or fast-travel to get there.

Follow the main path deeper into the cave until you come across a group of Rookwood’s poachers. Get rid of these dark wizards and continue on your way.

You’ll eventually come across the Phoenix, but you won’t be able to take it just yet. Instead, continue climbing the mountain by using the nearby ladder.

Multiple poachers and a pile of rocks will obstruct your journey. Use Bombarda to reveal the path. The Phoenix will be waiting for you at the peak. Once you’re near, simply use your Nab-Sack to capture it.

Completing the quest will reward you with a Phoenix Feather and the Legendary Phoenix will be waiting for you in the Vivarium.
