How to Catch a Hippogriff in Hogwarts Legacy | Location Guide

The legendary Hippogriff is a well-known and beloved magical creature. Combining the features of eagles and horses, it’s no doubt one of the most majestic creatures in Hogwarts Legacy.

If you wish to have a Hippogriff of your own, you can! This short guide will teach you everything you need to know about catching one.

How to Catch a Hippogriff

Before we begin, you’ll first need to earn the Nab-Sack by progressing the game’s main story. You’ll learn how to use the Nab-Sack as part of the “The Elf, The Nab-Sack and the Loom” quest.

This quest can be done after you first unlock the Room of Requirement and take your first Beasts Class. If you haven’t done so yet, just keep progressing through the game’s story.

During the quest, you’ll learn how to use your Nab-Sack to capture magical beasts. You’ll also unlock free usage of the Nab-Sack.

Now, let’s move on to the main goal of this guide: finding and capturing a Hippogriff.

Hippogriffs can be found in the Forbidden Forest, usually roaming the hills in the area. Be careful, as they will attempt to flee as soon as they spot you!

The general area of the Hippogriff Den is shown in the image below.

To capture one, you’ll need to immobilize it first using your spells. Levioso and Glacius both work. After that, use whichever you wish to keep the creature in place.

With the Hippogriff immobilized, all that’s left to do is to use your Nab-Sack. Capture it and you will be able to take it to your Vivarium in the Room of Requirement, where you can feed and pet it.
