How to Build Hunter Shelter in Sons of the Forest
Build yourself a Hunter Shelter and enjoy a much safer refuge.
One of the few ways to save your progress in Sons of the Forest is to build a shelter and sleep in it. The game features a new building system that allows you to quickly make a shelter by utilizing it.
You only need two items – a Tarp and a Stick – in order to start building.
However, you can also build the more robust Hunter Shelter, and we will show you how to do it.
How to Build Yourself a Hunter Shelter
Open the guidebook, then go to the building or green section to find the Hunting Shelter.
Click on the Hunting Shelter, then choose where you want to place it. The next step is to gather the materials needed to build it.
You want to collect the following:
- 5 Logs
- 2 Half Logs
- 6 Sticks
- 7 Rocks
This will take a while, but with the new companion system, you can have Kevin obtain some Logs while you get the other materials.
Rocks can be gathered on the ground while sticks can be obtained by cutting off small trees.
Once Kevin has obtained 6 logs, equip your Axe and go near a Log. Aim and use your Axe onto the Log to make two Half Logs. Place the materials you gathered by going to the Hunting Shelter’s outline and pressing E.
After you place all the materials, you can then finish your Hunter Shelter. This allows you to sleep in it to skip the night or save your game’s progress.
However, remember that it won’t protect you from the cold and the rain. You can make a fire outside the Hunting Shelter and light it up while sleeping to survive the cold instead.
