Gloria Victis Beginners Guide Abilities Mounts Weapons More

Gloria Victis is a very unique medieval MMORPG that deftly combines PvP and PvE elements. Some of the game’s unique traits can make it hard to get into, even for MMORPG veterans.

Don’t let the game overwhelm you though! We have got you covered if you’re starting out in the game for the first time. Here are the tips we would recommend:

Be Honest During Character Creation

As soon as you start the game, you’ll have to create your first character. During this process, you’ll go through a short questionnaire.

You should answer this as honestly as possible.

This little quiz will determine the recommended class for your playstyle. Playing the class recommended for you should provide the best experience.

Of course, you can still manually pick any of the 6 available classes during the character creation if you don’t like the one that was recommended to you.

Know Your Tools and Their Use

The world of Gloria Victis is littered with a variety of gathering spots. These gathering spots range from trees to clay to stone and anything in between.

While some of these spots don’t require a specific tool, such as herbs, others do. Using the right tool will vastly speed up the resource-gathering process.

Use hatchets to chop wood, pickaxes to mine ore from stones, sickles to reap crops, and shovels for materials like clay.

Use the right tools to obtain dozens of resources in no time!

Tame a Horse

Horses can be spotted in the wild as you explore the world of Gloria Victis.

You can approach them and tame them by completing a basic minigame. You can then bring them to the stablemaster in towns to be trained and tended to.

Your horse isn’t just a trusty mount for faster travel, either, as you can fight from horseback as well.

We highly recommend improving your horses’ Dynamics and Agility to make them faster and easier to handle. Don’t ignore their Vitality and Stamina, however!

Know Your Stats

The game features 3 different Attribute Stats you can allocate points to. They’re as follows:

  • Strength – Increases your base damage, stamina, and stamina regeneration while reducing slash damage taken. This makes it good for axes, spears, and blunt weapons among others.
  • Constitution – Increases health, health regeneration, stamina, stamina regeneration while reducing bludgeoning damage taken. It’s mostly good for defensive stats.
  • Dexterity – Increases stamina regeneration, and bow and knife damage. It also reduces pierce damage taken and stagger. Also somewhat improves sword damage.

You can freely redistribute these stats until you hit Level 90, so feel free to experiment. Generally speaking, though, you can’t go wrong with Strength and Constitution. Dexterity is more situational.

Use the Character Development System

Use the Character Development System

Gloria Victis has a deep skill tree known as the Character Development system.

This system governs everything about your character’s progression, from their use of weapons to their crafting abilities.

As a beginner, you should familiarize yourself with the Character Development screen. Check what requirements you need to meet to unlock the upgrade nodes so that you know what to work towards.

It can be overwhelming at first, so take it one step at a time and focus on the things you want your character to be good at.

Use Light Armor Early On

Use Light Armor Early On

Light Armor is recommended for new characters. While Medium and Heavy armors provide more defense, they also come with heavy penalties to stamina.

Higher-level characters are able to power through the stamina burdens imposed by these armors, but they will only be a hindrance to a new character.

Know your character’s limits and don’t overexert them.

Make Use of Crafting

Make Use of Crafting

The crafting system in Gloria VIctis is extremely useful and shouldn’t be neglected.

You’ll be able to cook meals to improve your vitality and stamina, craft armor and weapons to gear up for combat, and more.

Gather every resource you come across and hoard them to ensure you’re not left wanting when you wish to craft.

Also, make sure to keep making use of crafting to gain crafting experience. Check your Character Progression screen for crafting-related skills, too.

Combat Tips

Combat Tips

To finish off this guide, let’s go over some combat tips:

First, bind your center block to a key. Doing the center block with a mouse can be finicky, so bind it to an easy-to-reach key instead.

Second, stay agile. Use movement as much as possible to your advantage. Try not to stay still if you don’t have to. It’s simple, but this should make you harder to hit.

Third and last, play with a shield when you’re still new. Going for two-handed weapons instantly isn’t recommended as they’re harder to use. Use shields until you get a better hang of the combat.

With everything we’ve gone over in this guide, you should now be ready to get into the world of Gloria Victis!
