Fire Emblem Engage Unit Type Guide

Battles in Fire Emblem Engage, like every other game in the series, are built around unit types. There are numerous unit types, all with different strengths, weaknesses, movement options, and more.

If you want to get the most out of the game and ensure you can reach the end game, you will have to familiarize yourself and learn all of the unit types and when they are most effective.

Armored

Armored 2

The Armored unit type has high defenses and survivability with low Movement and Speed.

Backup

Backup

Backup units are the footsoldiers with the ability to swarm a single foe with an assault of Chain Attacks.

Cavalry

Cavalry units are mounted units with naturally high Mov. They’re often used to scout enemy areas or chase down fleeing targets.

Covert

Covert units have high Evasion, high burst damage potential, but low survivability.

Dragon

Dragon

Dragons can transform themselves or parts of their bodies into those of Dragons, making them very adaptable as they can access multiple bonuses when using Engage Skills.

Flying

Flying units aren’t affected by terrain, completely making them advantageous when positioning them. They are also weak to Bows.

Mystical

Mystical units have high offense and low defense with magical abilities.

Qi Adept

Qi Adept 1

Qi Adepts offer survivability and support abilities instead of offensive skills.

Each of these unit types has its own unique specialties and abilities that will help you in combat.
