Fire Emblem Engage Battle Preparation Guide

Before getting in a battle in Fire Emblem Engage, it is essential that you and your units are ready to go.

This can be as simple as knowing the basic strategy like the weapon triangle system or as complex as building the right team to take on the task at hand.

The series is well known for not holding the player’s hand, so knowing what needs to be done isn’t always that obvious.

If you are new to the game or just want a refresher on what exactly to know before heading into a battle, here’s a quick guide to help you prepare.

What’s important to keep in mind is that knowledge is power in Fire Emblem Engage. So, here are three essential things you need to have a firm grasp of before you can hop into a battle:

  • Emblem Rings – These are new to Fire Emblem Engage. Each ring corresponds to a hero from a previous game in the series. These rings provide bonuses and additional skills that can drastically turn the tide of battle and can even be upgraded.
  • Weapon Triangle System – The Weapon Triangle System is a Fire Emblem staple that works sort of like rock, paper, scissors. To simplify it: swords beat axes, axes beat lances, and lances beat swords. New to Engage, however, are hand-to-hand units like Qi adepts, Tome, and Knife users.
  • Unit Types – Each unit is a different type. The type of unit you use will alter the movement it has throughout the battle. It also has varying strengths and weaknesses against other units as well as other additional perks and skills. Each unit can also be upgraded.

These are the three key things you need to learn when preparing your units for battle. As long as you keep them in mind, you’ll be able to win most, if not all, of your fights.
