The Leviathan Remnant is an absolutely massive mass of flesh that grips the USM Ishimura with its tentacles.

This is also a new boss fight in Dead Space Remake, as events in the original played out differently and the boss was referred to as The Slug.

This abomination might catch players of the original game off-guard.

But whether you’ve never played the original Dead Space or are an old-school fan, this guide will tell you how to take down this mighty monster.

How to Defeat the Leviathan Remnant Boss in Dead Space Remake

To defeat this boss, you’ll need to use the cannons found around the area. Remember how you had to calibrate the ADS cannons previously? It functions similarly to that.

Approach the cannons from behind and interact with the terminal to activate them. While they’re active, aim your gum at the glowing yellow spots on the boss and press either X (PS5) or A (Xbox).

Stay mobile as you keep aiming and shooting with the ADS cannon. The boss throws large balls of flesh at Isaac, but it also attacks with its tentacle regularly.

You’re in zero-G, so you move rather slowly here, but you can take advantage of your vertical movement to avoid the attacks.

You also want to make sure to keep replenishing your oxygen supply. Recharge at the various green oxygen canisters spread throughout the arena.

Keep shooting the glowing spots until they explode. At this point, the Leviathan Remnant will destroy the ADS cannon you were using.

Don’t panic though. There are multiple cannons you can use, so just move on to the next one and repeat the process.

The Leviathan Remnant might shoot large yellow balls of flesh similar to an underwater mine. You can simply avoid them by flying around them, but don’t get too close.

You can also just shoot them to destroy them if they’re blocking your path. It’s recommended to clear out any that land near an oxygen canister.

You might notice one of the cannons has its terminal blocked off by a mass of flesh. Shoot the yellow balls that accentuate this mound of flesh to free the terminal.

Once that’s done, you can just use the cannon again normally as you did with the others.

On your last cannon, the Leviathan Remnant might attack and break the cannon before you actually finish it off. You’ll need to finish it off using your gun once no more cannons are available.

Keep shooting at the glowing spot while avoiding any attacks and you’ll eventually kill the Leviathan Remnant for good.
